Abandoned high school, Melbourne

Awhile ago I posted a series of photos of me going about my daily tasks (completely accurate, by the way) entitled ‘A day in the life of little Kitten‘.

These were shot in an abandoned high school in Melbourne.  It’s been abandoned for awhile.  It also underwent several name changes whilst open.

My parents went to this high school together in the 60s.  My mum said she felt a bit sad when she saw photos of the remains of the school.

It further confirmed something that I have already previously confirmed (but good to know that I am still right, as always) – there is always a piano or organ in an abando.  Seriously.

PS. This is my 250th post!  Only took me four years!  Woohoo!

  3. Beautiful photos 🙂

  4. Hey! This is amazing! I’m just wondering if at all possible you could tell me where this is? I’ve been trying to find it for ages! I’d love to go and shoot some pictures! 💚

  5. The only thing left is the Basketball Courts.

  6. this makes me sad. i used to teach some of the students who went there, not in this school but at the one that was merged with the school in the mid 2000s. i can’t believe it’s gone and i wonder what my life would be like if i signed on as a permanent teacher.

    • I would be pretty sad too if any of my old schools were demolished. My mum was sad when I showed her photos of this one as its her old school. Victoria seems to be losing schools quite quickly.

  7. Hi there. I understand you don’t want to hand out locations but I’m doing year 12 this year and a school I was originally going to photograph at is no longer accessible and I was wondering if you would be able to help me out by sharing a location of a school you know is still standing around Melbourne. I’ve been doing lots of googling and either I find nothing or what I do find is no longer there. It would be a major help and I have a couple of places down my way I could share.
