Ex-Fitzroyite

I am not in Fitzroy anymore. Well, I am in Fitzroy right at this moment. But I am no longer officially a resident of this wonderful suburb.

I will, however, remain a constant fixture on the Fitzroy pub circuit.

It has been two weeks now since I moved out of Fitzroy.

Big thumbs up to Joel @ Little Red Trucks for helping me move my few belongings over to the other side of the river.

I should perhaps change the name of the blog, though “Melbourne and Beyond” perhaps sounds a little too generic. (And “Port Melbourne and Beyond” doesn’t sound at all like interesting reading.)

Any suggestions for a new blog title?
I shall still be sauntering around in the sun, though it will be cold winter sun, and a lot of the sauntering shall be down by the bay, and it won’t actually be sauntering but rather very brisk walking in a futile attempt to keep warm.

PS. I’m sure that “Fitzroyite” isn’t the best word to use to describe a resident of Fitzroy, and I’m definitely not Fitzroyalty, so any suggestions on this will also be appreciated.

  1. 1. Keep the title. It’s “Fitzroy and Beyond” and you are now in the beyond part. Technically you could move to Argentina and the title would still be appropriate.

    2. How about Fitzroyalty-in-exile? Like Marx or Trotsky. It also implies that one day you’ll return to your rightful place!

    • “Fitzroyalty” is the name by which we describe Fitzroy wankers. For example, people who move to Fitzroy because they want to be cool, and then complain about the noise from the pub down the road.

  2. omg you’re right. I totally misread your shit. Ummm… ok how about Fitzwegian? Fitzjuvian? Fitzocastrian? Wait, I’ve got it – FITZRAELITE! I’m so going to use that word every time I listen to All You Zombies from now on.

  3. I know this is way too late, but I’m only just reading your blog for the first time now….

    I’ve always preferred “fitzroy denizen”
